DivestIC
Divestment is the a tactic and the goal is justice. As a student at Ithaca College, I strive to hold our values of social and environmental responsibility high. Ithaca College invests at least 1 million dollors in the fossil fuel industry. DivestIC is part of a national campaign working to divest fossil fuels from college endowments.

I am on the executive board of the Environmental Leadership and Actions Network (ELAN) who is working on this campaign. With over 260 colleges working parallel on divestment, together we have started a movement that will impact this destructive industry.

In the photo above I am speaking at our 100 person rally on Free Speech Rock at Ithaca College. My passion for divestment goes deep into my identity as a student. Ithaca College has taught me everything I know about social and environmental justice and I cannot accept our investment contributing to climate change and social enjustice.

Part of our work is in leadership development and training. We want to develop out members as experianced organizers that will have the tools to make an impact. Its important to us to map out our stragity and goals whenever we take a new turn in the campaign. The photo to the right shows an example of this.
